So, I just finished reading an article about a guide on how to create without generative AI. It's not final yet, some part are still under construction but so far it's a very good guide for anyone who just started creating. I want to highlight the "writing" part because, I love writing. From cringey poem and story to random bullshit. Writing is also the easiest form of creativity, yet the easiest for Gen AI to generate.
I always promised to myself not to involving Gen AI into my creativity space, in any form. So far i still keep my promise but I wanted to take it one more step ahead. Which is not involving Gen AI in my college assignments. To be honest, it's not that hard if 1) the deadline is reasonable, 2) my expectations are not higher than mount everest, and 3) i'm not lazy. There's also other reasons like, sometimes it's hard to search for scientific papers even using the number one search engine, Google Scholar, and Publish or Perish.
Using AI to find scientific papers sometimes very helpful but in the other hand, they always pull out hallucinations... I always checked the source to any AI generated results because hallucinations are very dangerous. Sadly, many people ignore this just because the AI included a link to 'the source'. But every time I click on the link, it always took me to a dead page or even nonexistent.
Other reason to use Gen AI is, to summarize lectures. If laziness of writing scientific paper isn't enough, here comes laziness of reading. I need to stop, we need to stop. Why? because each file you sent to web-based AI like ChatGPT, Deepseek, Perplexity, or anything, they're using them for their data training and put it in their huge storage systems. How do I know? Just a wild guess...
I mean, just think of it, how did they gave many people access to such a complex system that consume a lot of energy, storage, and money, for free?? There must be a catch, right? Users are paying using their data. Or worse, users are the product. They sell our data to companies and blablabla I'm sure you know where it goes I don't need to yap about it.
The point is, I don't want humans creativity got consumed by Gen AI, or at least, my own creativity. No matter how bad it is. Not only that, I don't wanna be sucked out by huge companies who own those AIs. I want to read a human-written fanfic. I want to listen to human-made melodies and loud EDMs. I want to see many human-generated art, manga, fanart, painting, anything that pleased my eyes.
I can't say I'm anti AI type of person. I am sure that AI and Gen AI will find a good use one day, other than replacing human's creativity. I mean. what's the point of AI generated creativity? Can AI express human's expressions? Should we replace every stroke of brush, every words written, every sounds hummed, with an mathematical generated code?
Just because AI can generate stuff, should we stop creating?
